Birmingham Stake - Harborne Ward October 26, 2014

The members of the Birmingham Stake Council were very cordial and happy to embrace the new day of Self-Reliance. The Area Seventy have been visiting each of the stake presidents to instruct them on their role in the Self-Reliance Initiative. So the groundwork is being laid and the changes will roll forth during the coming year. Most of the manuals aren't coming in professional printing yet. We're printing and binding pdf file copies in our office.

Kimball Update

Kimball is now over half way through with his chemo. He is undergoing a surgery (if his count is good) Monday 17th to place an implant that will put a halt to his precocious puberty. The early puberty is a symptom of his brain tumor and not the chemotherapy.

On the 19th he will be evaluated by a orthopedic group at Shriners Hospital to decide how to treat his Achilles tendons. He either has short Achilles or just tight tendons. Hopefully, they can fix with physical therapy but...sigh...surgery may be an option too. If surgery is needed to fix we may be just wait until after chemo wraps up.

Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace

we need to stand on the monument across the street.

London Assignment -October/November 2014

Elder Oldham previously owned Pipes Pizza in Salt Lake and Orem. On Halloween night, he played the organ for over an hour in the Hyde Park Chapel to accompany a silent movie of the Phantom of the Opera. Awesomely spooky!

Elder and Sister Jolley were asked to go to London once a week for several weeks after one of the senior elders died of a heart attack. He and his wife had been in London for a couple of months when the tragic event occurred. Elder and Sister Giles were from Heber Valley. This was their 4th mission. Two of their sons came to help their mother transport their dad back home.

We joined Elder and Sister Baxter to bridge the gap. A new missionary couple arrived this past Saturday, the 8th of November so we are back to normal 'duty'.

For our next photo, we'll try standing on their shoulders!

World Famous Harrod's of London October/November 2014

We stayed in a hotel just down the street from Harrod's, so we went inside and snapped a few photos. None of the merchandise had visible price tags so we knew we couldn't afford it!
